Review – Natural Hair – Curly Hair Solutions Curl Keeper

I received the Curly Hair Solutions Curl Keeper product in my May 2012 CurlKit. Before receiving the product in my CurlKit I had not heard of the company before. For me, the beauty of being part of a sample subscription club is that you have the opportunity to try different products and to find what works or what does not work for your skin, your hair, just you in general.

Overall Thoughts: First use - I used about a nickel size of the Curl Keeper after co-washing my hair with Yes to Cucumbers conditioner, and adding Beautiful Textures Whipped Hair Butter. First I was surprised by the consistency, it was a clear liquid. I was expecting a creamy texture. One thing I have to say, while my hair was wet, the product gave me a nice sheen, and curl definition. I followed the directions and did not touch my hair while my hair air dried. Although, the products does control frizz, it also gives a hairspray like hold without the sticky feeling. The product did not give me the bouncy curls I have grown accustom to, my hair did not move. In my opinion, having this kind of hold would be more suitable for someone in an area with high humidity. If I still lived in a high humidity area, I would probably have appreciated the product more, but I did not like the stiff hold it eventually turned into after air drying. The product is like a liquid form of hair spray.

Wanted to give the product another try:

Second use: I really like the idea of a product that will eliminate frizz (temporary). Basically I followed the same steps, except I added my B.A.S.K hair milk, thinking if I add more moisture, and use less (dime size) of the curl keeper that I would get different results. The results was a little better, but my hair still felt dry like I did not add any moisture to my hair. Again, I think this product would be an excellent buy for someone in an area where there is high humidity. But for me, right now I am on the fence. I really would like this to work for me, before the summer months.
